5 Small Kalispell Businesses We Love

This past year, we've had a lot of new folks moving to Kalispell, Montana from other parts of the country. As someone who's moved many times during my short time on this earth, I know how hard it is to get your bearings in a new place. That's why today, I give to you five small businesses (in no particular order) that we at Buckaroo Bling love in our area.

 1. Organic Groceries & Health Food

Withey's - A Kalispell fixture since 1958, this family owned little health food store has repeatedly won Best of Flathead awards through the years. From friendly staff, over great selection of organic produce, dairy, meat, groceries, supplements, environment friendly cleaning supplies, and even books, this is definitely the place to shop if you are in the market for health food and other provisions.

2. Pet Supplies

D-O-Gee Kalispell - If you're eating healthy, your pet should eat healthy too. Even though their name only references d-o-gee, this store also has a great selection of healthy food and treats for c-a-tee, as well as other necessities such as pet beds, toys, collars and leashes, and treats. What's more, you can entrust your d-o-gee to their skilled daycare service on those days that you can't take them with you where you're going, or have them pampered in the "beauty parlor" by a couple of skilled groomers. Wanna save on Fido's salon services? The store has a self-service dog wash, so you can easily DIY it. Friendly and knowledgeable staff just add an icing on the proverbial cake when it comes to this little store. Our Studio Security Manager wholeheartedly agrees.

3. Coffee Shop

Colter Coffee - One thing Kalispell doesn't lack are coffee shops. Still, not all of them are created equal. We here at Buckaroo Bling are partial to Colter Coffee downtown not just because the owners are our neighbors but because this little shop offers great coffee, tea, and pastries coupled with outstanding customer service. Add to that a revolving art show of works by local artists on the coffee shop walls, and this place checks about every box for both product and atmosphere.

4. Beef Ranch

Montana Better Beef - Montana is a place where family ranching operations abound, and it's really difficult to pick just one place to feature, even in a small area such as Kalispell and surroundings. We've tasted many a great plate of beef from different ranches raising longhorns, Highland cattle, Angus cattle, etc. So, no offense to our other ranching friends. I chose Montana Better Beef for this post simply because we were going with organic and health food theme here, and their meat is certified organic. Although technically not within Kalispell city limits, this ranch is only a short drive away, and you can order your beef online and then, either go pick it up on the ranch or have it delivered to your doorstep. Owners are very friendly too, with notable exception of the dog, but hey, she's just doing her job.

5. Wine Shop

Brix Bottleshop - When you need some great wine to go with that steak, head downtown to Brix Bottleshop. Although there are several wineries in the Kalispell area, I've chosen a wine shop instead because I've got a health food and beverage theme going here. You see, Brix carries several different organic wines from around the world. In addition, selection of different wines, craft beers and ciders is the best in the area, plus their knowledgeable and friendly staff can pick a perfect wine for you even if you're not a wine connoisseur. Just tell them what you're making for dinner, and they'll get you a perfect wine to pair.

There are so many more wonderful places to shop, eat and visit in Kalispell and the surroundings, and this is just a small sampling of the places we love. Here at Buckaroo Bling, we make it a point to support local small businesses, and we hope you'll join us in that endeavor whether you live here or are just visiting our neck of the woods.
