How To Choose The Right Necklace For Your Neckline
Share
When choosing a necklace to wear, you should always consider the type of neckline on the outfit you'll be wearing with that necklace. Not all necklace lengths and styles play well with all types of necklines, and today, I will give you a few practical tips to always choose the right combination.
In the image above, three most common necklines are shown: V-neck, boat neck, and scoop neck. There are many variations on these neckline types, but if you follow the simple advice here, you'll be able to make the right choice every time.
The rule of thumb is that, if you are wearing necklines that expose your neck, you should go for choker and collar length necklaces (usually between 13 and 16 inches long). The more bare skin that surrounds a collar or choker, the more such necklace would stand out. Round shaped chokers look especially good with scoop necklines. Of course, you should always consider your body features too, and if these lengths don't fit your body features, go with the closest length that does.
On the other hand, if you are wearing a turtleneck top or any variations on this type (e.g. mockneck), opt for longer necklaces, preferably 20 inches or longer. Although 18 inch is the most versatile necklace length that would go well with V-necks, scoop necks, and collared shirts alike, don't stick with this length only because it is a safe choice. 20-24 inch long necklaces look really good with business attire, and longest necklaces are perfect for evening or special occasion outfits as they give off a dressier, more elegant vibe.
Now that you know the basics, go and experiment a little with your necklaces. Soon, you'll be able to choose the appropriate length like a pro.
